Summary of Position
The Senior Database Manager provides a wide variety of complex professional level work in analysis, design, configuration, implementation, administration, problem solving, and technical optimization of the Association Management System (AMS).

Nature and Scope
The Senior Database Manager is accountable for providing comprehensive database configuration and support. This includes regular data integrity checks; system configuration; establishing items/campaigns, writing reports and dashboards; troubleshooting problems and researching solutions; and training staff, as needed.
The Senior Database Manager collaborates with decision makers in various business units (i.e. Finance, Marketing, Membership, Education, Meetings, Business Development) across the organization and with vendors to ensure data in the (AMS) is structured according to business needs and is accurate. This role is responsible for working with business units to understand their data needs and providing lists, reports, dashboards, flows, that meet those needs.
This position manages API integrations, supports the enforcement of AMIA’s data governance policy, and prepares and implements workflows, reports, and dashboards. All criteria used should be documented to develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the data dictionary.
This position is responsible for the ongoing process of maintaining and updating the AMS through routine checks, bug fixes, security patches, performance optimizations, and feature updates to ensure it remains functional, reliable, and secure over time.
Principal Accountabilities
The Senior Database Manager:
- Serves as the internal subject matter expert for AMIA’s AMS (SalesForce/Fonteva).
- Administrating user licenses within live and test AMS environments.
- Collaborate with business units to identify and implement necessary fields, configurations, flows, dashboards, and reports that drive business objectives.
- Develops and implements processes to ensure security, hygiene, and governance standards are applied.
- Assures accurate and timely reporting.
Essential Functions
- Must have a deep understanding of database structure and relationships to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
- Must be able to effectively translate business requirements into functional requirements when collaborating with internal business units and external vendors.
- Must be able to establish and implement items, campaigns, flows, reports and dashboards, documenting all work.
- Must be adept at managing multiple projects with varying timelines and deliverables, ensuring timely and successful completion.
- Must possess strong research skills to investigate and gather necessary information for the successful performance of duties.

Qualifications
- Education - College degree preferred
- Knowledge – Knowledgeable about the importance of accuracy and access to data and reporting to inform strategy and business decisions. Member association experience preferred.
- Work Experience - Highly motivated and organized with a strong work ethic. Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Technical Skills - Proficient in computer skills and experience with Association Management Systems (SalesForce/Fonteva) strongly preferred; knowledge of databases and relational data structure required
- Conditions - Possible to travel to the annual meeting in November; possible occasional extended hours as required.
