Responsibilities

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and technically skilled in Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC), with a strong ability to execute data-driven, personalized, and automated email campaigns. This role is responsible for advancing engagement across alumni and donor audiences through optimized email marketing and communication touchpoints.

This position will lead the development and execution of integrated email strategies aligned with advancement and fundraising goals. As a hands-on SFMC expert, this individual will support campaign execution, leverage data to drive decisions, and continuously refine email performance through best practices and optimization.

1. Design and execute sophisticated, personalized email campaigns using Salesforce Marketing Cloud tools including Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Email Studio, and Contact Builder.
2. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define campaign requirements, segment audiences, and implement multi-step customer journeys.
3. Develop dynamic content using AMPscript and HTML/CSS for responsive email templates.
4. Perform data analysis to measure campaign performance, test outcomes, and recommend optimizations.
5. Utilize SQL and relational data extensions to create complex audience segments and manage data flows.
6. Work with IT and CRM teams to maintain data integrity and support platform integrations and enhancements.
7. Stay current on best practices in email marketing, automation, deliverability, privacy, and compliance (CAN-SPAM, GDPR).
8. Identify opportunities to innovate and improve constituent engagement through email channel enhancements.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

1. Advanced proficiency in Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Contact Builder, AMPscript).
2. SFMC certifications preferred (Email Specialist, Marketing Cloud Consultant, Developer).
3. Strong understanding of responsive email design using HTML and CSS.
4. Experience with SQL for segmentation, reporting, and querying data within SFMC.
5. Familiarity with APIs and data integration between CRM systems and SFMC (e.g., Salesforce).
6. Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
7. Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
8. Analytical thinker who can turn data into actionable insights and campaign improvements.
9. Adaptability and initiative in a mission-driven, fast-paced environment.
10. Ability to work a hybrid schedule working up to 3 days a week in the office located in West Lafayette, Indiana. 

Required Education and Benefits

2. Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience 
3. Advanced proficiency in Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Contact Builder, AMPscript) required
4. Experience with SQL for segmentation, reporting, and querying data within SFMC required
5. SFMC certifications preferred (Email Specialist, Marketing Cloud Consultant, Developer) but not required
